Setting the Record Straight

Published: May 14th, 2008

Dupes is happy that the Gasman has seen the light and has found his way to NASCAR. Dupes is even glad he’s picked a favorite driver, though the thought here is that it has more to do with Kyle Busch’s football affiliation than anything else.

That Kyle Busch is a good driver is without a doubt. The Busch Revolution? The Kyle Busch Revolution will start the day Steve Downie learns how to successfully clear a puck. It’ll start when the Greg Biffle Revolution starts. Or the Kasey Kahne Revolution. Here are the numbers…

2003 Ryan Newman 8 wins and ended up 6th in the standings

2004 Jimmy Johnson 8 wins and ended up 2nd in the standings
Jeff Gordon 6 wins and ended up 3rd in the standings
Dale Earnhardt Jr. 6 wins and ended up 5th in the standings

2005 Greg Biffle 6 wins and ended up 2nd in the standings

2006 Kasey Kahne 6 wins and ended up 8th in the standings

All these fine fellows had more wins than the eventual Cup Champion. Kyle Busch has a long way to go before he is Cup Champion. Viva le Muttonhead.
